Position: Firefighter / Paramedic
Salary Information:
Entry Level: Starting at $59,013 (adjusted to $66,514.53 on May 1, 2025).
Lateral Experience:
1-2 years of full-time Firefighter/Paramedic experience: $69,984.85 (adjusted to $78,880.98 on May 1, 2025).
2+ years of full-time Firefighter/Paramedic experience: $76,213.56 (adjusted to $85,901.38 on May 1, 2025).

Department Overview
The Broadview Fire Department consists of 25 career personnel, including a Fire Chief, Deputy Fire Chief, three Captains, three Lieutenants, and Firefighter/Paramedics. Team members participate in specialized units such as HazMat, Technical Rescue, and Arson Investigation. The department handles approximately 3,500 emergency calls annually, with a minimum daily staffing of six personnel. The department provides auto-aid to neighboring communities including Maywood, Hillside, North Riverside, and Bellwood.
Recent Additions:
2024 Pierce Rescue Pumper.
Osage Ambulance expected in 2025.

Job Requirements
Age: Minimum of 21 years at time of hire.
Citizenship: U.S. citizen.
Education: High school diploma or GED.
Driver's License: Valid state license required.
Language: Ability to read and speak English.
Certifications:
Must be a licensed EMT-Paramedic at the time of hire.
CPAT card with ladder certification valid within six months of hire.
Academy: Out-of-state full-time firefighters must complete the Illinois Firefighter Basic Operations Course.
Experience: Not required for entry-level candidates. Starting salary adjusted based on full-time Firefighter/Paramedic experience.
Additional Preferences
Proviso Township residency (proof of residency for the last 12 months required).
BOF certification.
Military service (submit DD214, if applicable).
Hiring Process
Pass the National Testing Network (NTN) examination with a score of 70 or higher.
Complete a virtual oral interview via NTN.
Pass a thorough background investigation.
Complete psychological and medical evaluations, including drug screening.
If applicable, successfully complete the Illinois Firefighter Basic Operations Course.
